Fall Colors in Stevens Pass

We were on a road trip this week. (More images to come)

As you drive over Stevens Pass on US Highway 2, near the summit you will see this slope that is subject to constant snow slide activity. Fortunately the highway was built on the south side of the valley, avoiding this threat at least. Because of the frequent avalanches, larger trees aren’t able to gain a foothold so the deciduous shrubs, which can hide below the first layers of snow, are able to thrive giving us this feast of colors on the mountain.

Take a moment, if you can, to get out and enjoy the season.

About Dave Scott

I have been hanging about the Pacific Northwest between Washington and British Columbia for most of my days. A brief sojurn to Quebec in my younger years, and another in Alberta not so many years ago are the only times when I have not called the Wet Coast my home.
