So, June has a day job at REI. They are a big get outdoors cooperative headquartered here in the Pacific Northwest. This poster was in my in box this evening. I think its fun, especially as cycling is my favorite form of exercise after lifting a glass of fine wine.
Now as I trace my way through this questionnaire, i haven’t quite figured out where I belong.
Years ago I rode the Hope – Princeton Highway (that would be highway 3) with our trusty Yorkshire Terrier, Millie. She was a great companion, sitting in the pack between the handle bars. She popped up out of her nest long enough to pose in front of this grade warning sign. We had just made the push to the top of what the hardest hill on the trip.
When we arrived in the Seattle/Tacoma area 10+ years ago, I purchased a mountain bike (from REI) thinking the traffic on the roads here is nuts. There is no shoulder. Take it off road, its safer.
Where do I spend most of my saddle time? On paved trails like the one running through Orting. Um maybe I should spring for a Cruiser.

By the way, the mountain bike, on which I rode from Seattle to Portland on, is an appropriately named model, it is a “Scott Purgatory”.
