Tacoma Narrows Sunrise

Tacoma Narrows SunriseEvery day I travel to work along Washington SR 16.

Every day is different.

On February 29th, I awoke to a bright line in the east – maybe it would be a sunny day. Maybe it would be one of those days when the Olympics stand out behind the twin spans of the Narrows Bridges, and I would get an awesome shot.

It was not to be. Yes, there was a hole in the clouds over Mt Rainier, but the rest of the sky was that wet coast blah. Oh well, never say die. Pulled off of 16 at the Jackson Street exit and found a place to plant the tripod. Glad I did. The clouds put a filter on the sun that made the bridge absolutely glow golden. Got an awesome shot, just not the one I was expecting.

This site is about Northwest Places. Not always the Pacific Northwest, where we live, but about places that are Northwest of Somewhere. It’s about taking a moment to look around and enjoy the place your are and sharing. I’m looking forward to sharing, I hope you find some pleasure in my tail.
